Robert Downey Jr can play just about anything and make it exciting, and in A Game Of Shadows he nails it again, adding humour and an everyman feel to the famous detective.
The latest Sherlock Holmes adventure introduces one of literature’s most famous villains, Professor Moriarty (expertly played by Mad Men’s Jared Harris), who steals nearly every scene with his ruthless, calculating and humourless manner.
Trust me, this is one professor you wouldn’t want marking your course paper.
Stephen Fry brings his unique style to the production and his naked Mycroft is one of the more humorous moments.
Sherlock must outsmart Moriarty before he has a chance to unleash his plans to send all of Europe into war.
Game of Shadows’ real appeal is the ongoing chemistry between Law and Downey Jnr and you don’t have to be much of a detective to realise that a sequel is a certainty.
