The Hamilton Parents Centre celebrated its 55th birthday with a fashion show for expectant mothers this week.
The evening showcased maternity and breastfeeding clothes from designer Egg, and guest speakers who spoke about healthy pregnancy. One of the speakers, clinical hypnotherapist Caterina Findsen, told the women about a unique birthing technique called hypnobirthing.
Ms Findsen teaches her clients how to hypnotise themselves and make their birthing experience relaxed and pain free.
“I want people skipping to the birthing room saying ‘today’s my baby’s birthday!’”
Second-time mother Monique Hansen is 15 weeks pregnant and said the hypnobirthing was definitely something to try.
“I’d love to try it instead of all the screaming,” she said.
The women received a goodie bag of vouchers, nutrient tablets, billy goat soap, and information.
