Hamilton rapper Webster Ndala will travel to LA to perform at the Indie Entertainment Summit in August.
Hamilton rapper Webster Ndala will perform at the Indie Entertainment Summit (IES) in Los Angeles this August.
The IES is an annual five-day entertainment festival including industry seminars, showcases, workshops, and concerts featuring international acts.
Ndala, also known by his rapping name Winston Anthony, announced the news on Facebook, thanking his supporters.
“I can’t even stress how blessed I feel at the moment and I know it’s going to be a hard next few months preparing myself and saving money for the biggest opportunity of my life,” he said.
The news follows the release of the 21-year-old’s second album BlankCanvas last month.
“I think the difference is that I have improved so much in the last few years that, to me, my first album seems like a mistake but mistakes must be made to get to the top,” he said.
The Waikato University law and arts student said he wanted to create a piece of art, something more than just words on a beat.
“I tried to paint a picture of my life on this blank canvas so you have songs about my desire to succeed, my desire to be different, my desire for justice, my desire for love.”
A Winston Anthony Facebook fan said the rapper is definitely improving.
“You had some tight [good] producers on this track and you didn’t let them down, you did justice to their beats.”
Ndala says people are telling him that BlankCanvas is the best they have heard from him.
“The general consensus seems to be that I have stepped it up a level, which is good because it’s what I strive to do,” he said.
