Young Farmers Fight Night postponed
A delay in permits has postponed the Young Farmers Fight Night and taught the organisers some valuable lessons.
Delays in getting permits have meant the National Young Farmers Fight Night fundraiser has had to be postponed to Friday June 22.
The Fight for Life night was originally planned to go ahead this Friday alongside the National Fieldays.
However, the Young Farmers have decided they needed an extra week to fine- tune the Westpac Air Ambulance fundraising boxing match.
Most of the trouble has been permits, knowing which ones are needed, and knowing where to get them, Te Kawa West Young farmer Tony Peake, 22, said.
“The biggest issue has been the police permit, it has taken hours and hours of calling and door knocking to find out where you can get the permits and how to go about it. However, finally we have had a run of success and we now know how to go about getting one. Tickets have been refunded to those who can’t make next Friday night.”
Te Kawa West Young Farmers President Courtney Goodare, 22, said it is the first time members have organised a large event but the experience has been a good insight for further large scale events coming in the future.
“As Young Farmers have never been part of an event of this scale it’s been a good experience finding out what is involved to make a safe and successful night. Organisation has been the biggest thing for us as a club, it has taken months.”
The venue is still at The Don Rowlands Center, Lake Karapiro. Tickets range from $45 to $80 depending on table positioning. Purchase your ticket for the Young Farmers Fight Night here on www.eventfinder.co.nz
