Singer Anna Saxton is training with a vocal coach to the stars.
Anna, 18, travels to Auckland every weekend to see Stuart Clarke, who trained in the USA with Seth Riggs, trainer of Michael Jackson and Madonna.
She also “sees” Dave Stroud, the vocal coach of Justin Bieber, Jordan Sparks and Demi Lavato, in a mentoring course that uses skype.
Dave recently came to New Zealand for a mentoring vocal workshop with Daniel Bedingfield.
“I think it’s so important as a singer if you are going to have longevity in the music industry to make sure you have good vocal technique which doesn’t cause strain on the vocal chords so you can keep gigging and touring.
“It’s really great working with like-minded people and the talent they [the coaches] have is a positive for up and coming New Zealand musicians.”
Anna is the lead singer with Contrast Theory, who uploaded their first song, Voodoo Doll, on YouTube. It got picked up by Wellington record label Southern Collective Music.
“I always had a clear focus on the direction of the band and the music,” she said.
The five-piece original pop/rock band has recorded four more songs at Auckland’s prestigious York Street Studios.
