Moritz a no-show for Wintec’s Spark week
Moritz Waldemeyer, one of the world’s most exciting designers, will not be appearing at his speaking slot at Spark week on Wednesday.
Moritz Waldemeyer, one of the world’s most exciting designers, will not be appearing at his speaking slot at Spark week on Wednesday.
Waldemeyer was due to fly straight from the London Olympics on Monday to speak in front of hundreds of keen students this week.
Festival Director Kat Cox said: “Unfortunately we heard through a PR company recently that Moritz won’t be appearing at Spark week.
“Though no explanation was given and we weren’t able to make contact with him to re-secure him, we presume that the pressures and obligations of being involved with a big project at the closing ceremony for the Olympics was too much for him.
“We’re extremely disappointed that he is a no show, and we apologise to all the people over New Zealand who planned on attending his Spark session.”
Second year media arts and fine arts student Ruth Merriman said she was disappointed he is not coming to Wintec.
“He should have made an appearance. I liked him because he was a mixture, not just an artist.”
Waldemeyer has been dubbed a “technology design mastermind”. He has collaborated with many of the world’s top architects and fashion designers, with clients like Kylie Minogue, Rihanna, U2, Audi cars and Will.I.Am, as well as his role at the Olympics.
