Second gym for Morrinsville opening soon
The locals of Morrinsville will have another option for a place to work-out as Flex Fitness Gym comes to town.
A second gym for Morrinsville is close to opening with construction almost finished, and equipment starting to arrive.
The small rural town already has a gym, but local man Tony Tracey saw an “opportunity to do something different”.
Morrinsville is surrounded by factories including Fonterra, Tatua, and Greenlea Meatworks, therefore many shift workers.
“I wanted to tap into that market,” said Tracey, “Flex Fitness offers 24/7 access.”
He feels there is a demand for Morrinsville to have a gym which follows the lead of many city gyms, to “offer the whole package, and attract a different pool of people”.
Local Brad Jackson, 18, said that a 24-hour gym has sparked his interest.
“On days that I finish work late, I would be able to continue on a workout programme.”
Blake Klenner, 20, said a 24-hour gym would be highly convenient.
“The new gear is key, and availability also, as going after work means a fight for equipment, which is a huge put-off.”
Word-of-mouth and a Facebook page have contributed to getting the Flex Fitness brand out in the community, as well as keeping the locals informed and updated.
Tracey is pleased with the response so far, with the initial special foundation membership offer attracting the first 100 people to sign up.
After a year or two, Tracey hopes membership numbers will be up around 600 plus.
He wants to get further involved in the community, as well as being able to provide employment opportunities in the health and fitness industry.
Tracey has previous experience in marketing, sales and customer service, and said the gym industry was a positive one to get into.
“So far I love the lifestyle change, and flexibility which allows me to spend more time with my family.”
