Waikato police are urging the public to be conscious of their belongings at Fieldays as reports of stolen property continue to filter in.
However police are “very happy with the overall perspective of Fieldays and currently things are “all good,” Sergeant Andy Connors said on Thursday.
So far police have dealt with minor crimes such as theft, theft in stalls and lost property going into the third day of the event.
“Predominantly, we deal with lost property and found property as well as people getting lost and so we provide general assistance and general help,” Connors said.
“There has been a small amount of shop lifting and you get people who have been walking around and they’ve put a parcel down for a short time and someone will lift it.”
Apart from this, no major incidents have been reported.
Police will continue to patrol Fieldays via horseback, quad bikes and foot patrol for the remaining two days.
A traffic operation has also been set up outside the event including officers continuing to patrol car parks to eliminate vehicle break-in.
“We have a firearms inspectors going around and a liquor licensing inspector going around checking licences throughout the stalls that will continue for the next few days.”
