Quad bike safety a ‘world first’

AG-Tech’s Lifeguard is back at Fieldays with its award winning roll bar technology.

After winning the “Innovation of the Year” Golden Standard Award at Fielday’s in 2012, the Lifeguard is now on the market.

The ATV rollover protection is unique in that it is uses a flexible bar, something Gerard  Stewart says saves lives.

“This provides space under the quad, but then if the bar itself hits you it doesn’t kill you. That’s been a problem in the past. Rigid roll bars would come over and do more damage than the quad itself.”

Stewart, who works in operations at AG-Tech, says the technology is the first of its kind.

“It’s a world first… There’s nothing else like that as a roll bar, like a flexible form of crush protection.”

Last year Lifeguard was Supreme winner of the New Zealand Health and Safety awards in 2013.

With orders going out to Australia, America and Chile, Stewart says they’ve only just begun to stretch their legs.

“We’ve just started exporting and its good just checking out the New Zealand market, and it’s still going strong there.”
