Xero showcases new “cloud”

Xero and partner Figured have launched a new service to help improve accuracy of accounts for farmers.

Online accounting software company Xero has launched a new cloud based service at Fieldays to help improve accuracy of accounts and boost profitability for farmers.

Together with partner Figured, Xero last night launched Farming in the Cloud – a rural online accounting and farm management solution.

Xero rural strategy lead Ben Richmond said the service enables farmers to track livestock, check balances, and lift profitability in real time.

“Everyone can collaborate with it [Farming in the Cloud] such as the advisors and farmers. It enables everyone to have a go…and make changes when required,” he said.

Figured’s Executive Director Dr Helen Cross said, “now, the whole farming team know everything about the farm’s financial, stock and equity position in real time – at any time.”

On Xero’s partnership with Figured, Richmond said it has been one of their best partnerships.

“We are excited to now have all our major rural supplier partnerships in
place.

“Figured has been instrumental in taking Xero to the farming market,” he said.

They also have partnerships with Vodafone and Wireless Nation to help increase internet usage in rural areas.

“Around 400,000 people are signed up to the ultrafast broadband,” said Richmond.

“We believe that if farmers sign up to get rural broadband and the cloud service, it will change the way farms do business in the future.”

Along with their new cloud based service, Xero has a new app called Receipt Bank.

The app means leading farmers suppliers can seamlessly send invoices online rather than on paper.

Farmers simply supply their email address to their supplier and invoices will be automated into their personal Xero account, creating organisational simplicity.

Xero and Figured have trialled the software through 60 accounting firms and have done a nationwide roadshow.
