Brand new Tron band takes on the nation
Few will have heard of Le Strange, one of Hamilton’s newest bands, but that is not stopping them from taking on the competition in the battle of the Bands.
Hamilton band Le Strange may be just one month old, but they are ready to take on all-comers in the nationwide Battle of the Bands tomorrow.
Friends from birth, Jake Clarke and Myles Rollason are first-year music students at Wintec and have done what most musicians do when starting their careers: they have set up a band.
A month ago Myles and Jake came up with the idea to begin Le Strange with two fellow musicians.
Jake plays the drums and sings; Myles is the lead singer and guitarist; Callum Gott is a guitarist and does vocals; and Clive McIndoe plays the bass.
The band is influenced by the Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, The Beatles, Muse, and The Black Keys.
“We come from different genres,” Clarke said when asked about their sound.
Rollason cites the British sound and Jeff Buckley as inspiration for his vocal style while Clark says his drumming is influenced by Bring Me The Horizon and Memphis May Fire.
Le Strange is currently recording a five-track EP with plans to release it at the end of December.
“We’re making a music video for one of the songs and plan to release it in late December, early January,” Clarke said.
They have played a few shows in the last couple of months and have also been one of the opening acts for The Latest Fallout.
Le Strange is playing in the Battle of the Bands this Friday November 7 at Diggers Bar in Hood Street.
Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 9pm.
Tickets are $15 at the door or $10 online.
