Lucy Bennetto has come in to the chocolate industry to show everyone how it’s done.

Her zero emission chocolate company, Bennetto Natural Foods, is a diamond in the rough.

Founded in 2010 and relaunched in 2017, Bennetto chocolate is here for the benefit of its consumers and environment.

“We are all fair trade and organic and carbon neutral,” said Lucy at her Fieldays stall.

“We’re working on a sustainable brand, that’s the premise of what we do.”

When she was offered a partnership with a Swiss chocolate manufacturer, she was able to introduce the label of being a zero-emission business.

The partnership allows a timber tree to be planted for every 1000 bars that are produced, which offsets all carbon emissions that occur during manufacturing.

Lucy said it all started in her home kitchen in Christchurch before it eventually became a brand sold throughout Australasia.

Her goal was to produce high quality chocolate for socially conscious people who enjoyed trying new things.

As well as being fair trade and organic, Bennetto is also vegan and gluten-free certified.

The range includes 100g blocks and 30g single serve bars.

The chocolate has continued to be made by hand in Christchurch by Lucy and her team, and the 100g blocks are co-produced by her Swiss partner.

Alongside the chocolate range are two hot chocolate varieties so you can enjoy the Bennetto taste as a winter warmer.
