For Horomona Horo Matariki is a time to re-energise and get back in touch with yourself and wider community.

“It is a holy time, once so full of positive energy because of the time of year, it is an opportunity to plant seeds inside your heart, your mind, inside your body. And able to bring humanity, able to once again to celebrate humanity.”

Matariki is not only a Māori traditional festival but also a spiritual source of mutual, and joyous, solidarity. During Matariki  Māori usually get together to share music and food while they also have performances.

In this interview Horomona tries to give people a better understanding of Matariki’s significance to the Māori and the way they celebrate their festivals. Matariki is a way for people to connect with nature through festivals, and celebration is also a way to enhance the relationship between people as a goal.

Māori pursue through Matariki the purest joy and humanity in their soul. They celebrate, laugh, sharing the happiness that is their way to release their most natural and pure human nature.
