Face painting brings happiness to children
With Halloween looming face painters around Hamilton were busy.
Face painter Ellie Edworthy had a busy Halloween bringing happiness to children at the Chartwell shopping centre.
A queue of about 15 mums and children was patiently watching on as young Rory Dalgety was transformed.
Ellie, who has been doing face painting for three years, said she did not have any art background but had studied with her mother, Emma.
She said most of her work was face painting at private parties.
“A lot of them are birthday parties,” she said.
Ellie has joined the New Zealand Body Art Awards which is a core community for people doing face painting and it has influenced her the most in her career.
She recommended anyone thinking of entering the career should make sure to buy good quality products such as paints and brushes.
The most difficult challenge in her day was painting reluctant children.
“When parents want to get their kid’s face painted but the kid does not want to co-operate, and ends up crying…”
