Angela Chilcott created The Yoga Bungalow as a safe and accepting studio for different bodies.

Ange started her yoga journey nearly three years ago, training as a yoga teacher in Wellington and going on a trip to Bali. Her Cambridge studio is approaching its first anniversary. And her motivation? To create a place people can come to slow down, to restore their mental and physical wellbeing.

A mother of two, Ange, has a passion for teaching kids.

“The kids can just be themselves. Everyone is an equal.”

“The kids can just be themselves. Everyone is an equal.”

Ange has seen the benefit of yoga and will continue to inspire others to be open, and move in different ways. Yoga is great as there is no competition.

“There is no winner, there is no loser.”

This term’s classes have been focused on the theme of “connection”. The purpose is to learn to connect to one’s body and breath. In kids’ class they learn proper breathing techniques, create mandalas and give Medi the teddy attention.

The Yoga Bungalow hosts a weekend class in a public park every fortnight. Having an open space to practice yoga helps build the community and is a neutral space where everyone is equal. Often it is daunting to enter a studio for the first time, so beginning in a safe, public area is a good way to start.

Ange found starting her own business gave her flexibility to work from home and spend time with her family. At the start she found it challenging to get her name recognised but found social media to be a great help in building The Yoga Bungalow. To create a calming studio space, Ange renovated her garage.

Ange finds every aspect of teaching to be fulfilling and she wants to share the powerful tool of yoga with others.

Classes that are available include, children’s’ yoga starting at four years old, tween yoga, prenatal yoga and more. Everyone is welcome.
