An agency formed by Bachelor of Communications students at Wintec is underway creating marketing strategies for businesses and charities. Named 41 Creative, Director and Wintec tutor, Abby Dalgety says, “the agency runs like a workplace to ensure our students are career ready. Its purpose is to give students real world experience in the growing digital communication industry.”

One new client 41 Creative has teamed up with is Cambridge couple Andy and Anna Richdale. The agency will be building and promoting a Kickstarter campaign for their new family board game, Flappy Families.

The game has players vying to collect sets of native New Zealand birds while trying to avoid the predators. It features memory mechanics and a bit of light strategy as well as beautiful illustrations by talented Auckland based designer Sam Kim. The Richdale’s say it makes a great family board game for 2-5 players aged 6+ years.

41 Creative will pitch and implement different marketing strategies that align with Flappy Families needs and their aim to attract $8,000 in pledges to fund their project.

Andy and Anna were originally inspired to create Flappy Families when they were living near the Waitākere Ranges. They were surrounded by native bush and had many New Zealand native bird visitors. Their three young children presented the challenge to game designer Andy to create a game that both children and adults could enjoy playing together while also having the option for children to easily manage playing by themselves. The project has been a labour of love for over 6 years and will finally be ready to go to print once the Kickstarter is finished.
