The Night Was Sparkling: Taylor Swift ‘Speak Now’ release party.
Since The Eras Tour is not coming to Aotearoa New Zealand, promoters Superficial held a Taylor Swift ‘Speak Now’ release party at The Bank Bar in Hamilton last Friday.
Fans, known as ‘Swifties’, dropped everything to line up in town to have a good time listening to all the eras of Taylor Swift songs from 2006 until her most recent Midnights album which was released last year. People dressed up in every era, especially in purple, since the party is dedicated to her Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) album. Some dressed from the Lover era like an afterglow to the vampy lip Reputation era. One man wore a Junior Jewels shirt from the famous music video. ‘You Belong With Me’.
As the doors opened at 10:00 pm, the first hundred people got custom light up wristbands and pins from one of Taylor’s albums. There were also curated cocktails based on her songs like ‘Lavender Haze’, ‘Gold Rush’ and ‘Lover’.
The party went on singing to Taylor Swift songs including the 10 minute version of ‘All Too Well’, as well as ‘Blank Space’, ‘Long Live’, ‘Enchanted’, ‘Out of the Woods’, ‘August’ and a whole lot more.
Most of people who attended the event were women and it was nice to see how people were empowering each other, like a woman telling you’re beautiful, a genuine compliment how your outfit looks nice, comforting each other during the emotional songs and even people dispensing romantic advice while queuing near the toilets.
It was a fun party because it is not only a party dedicated to Taylor’s songs but witnessing how women, united in their love for the singer, were empowering each other to have a great night.
