Wintec back on brand with new photo shoots
After 3 years, Wintec is working on refreshing its promotions and advertisements to attract more akonga to study at Wintec.
The Wintec marketing team has embarked on a strategy to rebuild Wintec’s brand following the disestablishment of Te Pūkenga.
Wintec senior marketing specialist, Martin Brock said that one of the main goals for 2025 is to build back up the stand along brand and “getting new photos and videos are a big part of that.”
Head of Wintec marketing, Gemma Bond, said her team particularly wanted students currently studying at Wintec to model for them. She said the photos will be published on buses, bus shelters, posters, websites and other platforms to promote Wintec to the public.
The first shoot was with a group of students from the School or Media Arts – Te Kura Pāpāho. They worked with photographer Mark Hamilton on locations around the city campus. Brock said using real students reflected the diversity of the different areas of Wintec.
Brock said, when he started his role 5 years ago, Wintec was still in the process of the Review of Vocational Education (ROVE) and then became part of Te Pukenga in 2021. Last year things changed, when the government announced the disestablishment of Te Pukenga, so the aim is to rebuild the already established Wintec brand.
Gemma Bond said her team “look after all of the promotional recruitment side in terms of encouraging students to apply” and said the photoshoots will continue until September and will focus on programs and other certain areas in Wintec.
