I’ve spent the last four years waiting for this movie.

The Avengers does the impossible, taking a talented cast, all of whom are leading men in their own right, and moulding them together to provide the perfect team, like the superheroes they play.

The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor). All of the actors save for Ruffalo have cut their teeth in their own movie about their respective characters.

No superhero movie is complete without the bad guy and The Avengers re-introduces Tom Middleston as Loki. He was the star of the show in Thor and this time tries to conquer the world.

Supporting characters Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner are fantastic in the roles of Black Widow and Hawkeye.

The first two acts build up to final battle perfectly,  connecting all the loose threads.

The fight scenes  will have you on the edge of your seat while you get to see who really is the mightiest hero.

Not to give too much away, but the Hulk might just be the toughest superhero this side of  DC.

The special effects will leave you with a dry mouth and your jaw will be dropping in most scenes, removing any nasty taste in the mouth left by last year’s dismal attempts at a blockbuster – that’s you, Green Lantern.

Assemble! For one of the best movies so far in 2012.
