Martin Scorsese is undoubtedly one of the giants of the silver screen, and with Hugo the man who gave us cinema classics such as Goodfellas and Raging Bull only increases in stature.

Based on the Brian Selznick book, Hugo is the story of a 12-year-old orphan who lives between the Gare Montparnasse station walls in 1930s Paris.

It’s charming and quirky with lots of historical references to George Melies, a French illusionist and filmmaker (expertly played by Ben Kingsley).

Look out for newcomer Asa Butterfield. Scorsese has always had an eye for new talent, just look at Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver.
