SPCA moggies need meowth work

Two SPCA cats are regretting they do not have a dental plan

The Waikato SPCA has asked the public to help out two cats in need of dental work through a post on the organisation’s Facebook page.

Koala and T-K, both adult cats approximately 4-6 years old, need surgery to have teeth extracted.

“They both came in as strays and have been unclaimed,” Waikato SPCA attendant Jess Woodcock said.

So far the cats’ plea has been well received, with at least $90 donated toward the probable cost of both surgeries of $400-$500.

Gwyneth Griffiths from Hamilton has donated $40 to the fund. “I’m not allowed animals where I live, so I like to help out in any other way,” she said.

Woodcock says the public have donated in the past to treat needy animals.

“There is a lot of support for the treatment needed for strays. The amount this year has been higher with more intensive surgeries than in previous years,” Woodcock said.

Griffiths thinks it is an awesome idea, and a good cause, as she loves what the SPCA does.

After treatment and recovery, both cats will be placed up for adoption.

If you would like to make a donation towards Koala and T-K’s surgery, you can make a deposit into the Waikato SPCA’s bank account 01-0327-0007650-00 using the reference DENTAL.
