With thousands of visitors from around the country converging on Hamilton’s Mystery Creek for Fieldays this week, police are urging people to have a good time but to keep safe.

Waikato police will be fully equipped for the large numbers attending the site.

With a massive 980 exhibitors, it is a “large scale operation”, police spokesman Andrew McAlley said, and one of the three largest operations the Waikato police face.

Police will be patrolling the venue via foot patrol and quad bikes, while a police unit will be on site every day.

The New Zealand Police will also have an exhibit on site at E.32 with latest issued vehicles, including the new police SVU and multi coloured cars.

“Hopefully there will be something for everyone,” McAlley said.

Police hope to combat theft from vendors’ stalls by educating exhibitors on site during the four days.

Police will also watch over car parks and remind the public to not leave valuables in their vehicles.
