How to Dad: Jordan Watson approves of Ford Raptor

Ford accompanied with How to Dad – Jordan Watson show off the new Raptor Ranger

The wraps are off the new Ford Ranger Raptor, and Fieldays visitors are the first to see the ute in New Zealand.

“They said it’s the motocross bike of the Ford range,” said Jordan Watson, also known as ‘How to Dad’.

Tom Clancy, the communications manager for Ford NZ, said: “It’s not just a Ranger with accessories bolted onto it, that vehicle is developed ground up.”

Ford New Zealand have said the Raptor will go on sale in New Zealand for a retail price of $84,990+ORCs (on road costs).

“We’ve got people coming in with chequebooks ready to buy the Raptor,” Clancy said.

The engine is a small-capacity 2.0-litre BiTurbo-diesel engine. It has 157kW (210HP) and 500Nm of torque.

“Some people are like why is it only a 2.0-litre, but it’s a BiTurbo which means its fizz fizz fizz,” Watson said.

The BiTurbo (twin turbo) powerplant is the most powerful engine in the Ranger lineup.

The Raptor  towers over neighbouring cars like they are ants. Coloured “Conquer Grey”, from every angle it looks like a strongman clenching his muscles.

“I would call it staunch, it’s got a fierce … what do the young kids say, Sasha fierce. Is that a Beyonce reference?” said Jordan.

The Raptor features beefed-up suspension and BF Goodrich All-Terrain K02 tyres to keep drivers stuck to the road and dirt.

Two hundred and fifty of the beauties are coming to New Zealand, and 102  have already been presold.
