The long beard of the law is reaching out to Fieldays visitors and spreading the word on social media.

Constable Jack Driver, sporting a luxurious beard worthy of any hipster, is at his third Fieldays with a mission of getting the police’s social media up and driving.

For the first time at the 50th Fieldays, the police have opted to reach people through Facebook and Instagram.

They are using Fieldays as a platform to boost their social media following, to keep the community well informed as well as engage with the them.

“The aim is to improve trust and confidence within the community,” Constable Driver said.

TV3 presenter Mike Puru, who has taken over the Instagram page for the day, is set on getting the police to hit 4000 followers.

“The police are not here to just solve crimes, people should know that they too are approachable,” Puru said.
