Devilskin’s Kiwi rock tour begins
New Zealand rock band Devilskin to do eight shows across the country before leaving on European tour
Hamilton metal band Devilskin have a mammoth overseas tour scheduled but first they will rock with Kiwi audiences.
The band are headed to 11 European countries to support US Grammy Award winners Halestorm and following that they have 12 dates across the UK.
Before they leave, New Zealand crowds can catch them at eight gigs across the country with the first kicking off in Dunedin tonight.
According to Devilskin bassist Paul Martin, fans or ‘the Devil army’ can expect an intimate affair.
“We’ve definitely missed our crazy Devil army while we’ve been locked away writing,” he said.
They intend to give punters a night packed with energy, light displays and big screen projections.
“We’ve got some extra little production toys that we’re road testing. It’s just giving the audience more of an experience, to make it more of an epic show.”
Paul’s son Nic is the band’s drummer. He grew up listening to his dad front the metal radio show ‘The Axe Attack’ and was surrounded by music.
“It’s just programmed into me at this stage. I don’t want to be doing anything else. I want to play music, listen to music and take it everywhere,” Nic said.
The band have been working on around 30 songs since they last appeared and while touring the country they will release a new song and music video.
“If you come out to the first few shows then you’ll be first to catch that song.
“We’re playing a lot of new material on this tour just to give it a test run…and see how the reactions shape the way the songs are performed,” Nic said.
The day before leaving their home-town the duo, who make up half of the band, were amped.
“It’s time to get out on tour and rip it up!” Paul said. He added, “I can’t wait. Can’t wait!”
Devilskin will be supported throughout New Zealand, except in Christchurch, by Written by Wolves .
