Artist Lance Harris described his journey as an artist and how he loves to be on the water.

He talked about how he started a business in a shopping centre called High Point in West Albany, Melbourne. He gathered a group  of both amateur and professional artists to put together workshops, exhibitions, and performances for the community of High Point.

“I came up with this concept of togetherness, it is something I love to teach people, togetherness and moving into the future with a little bit more hope.”

Journalist Ruby Nyika expressed the difficulty that all writers face from time to time. “Bear in mind, for every good story I’m showing off now, I had 20 ones that I didn’t pull off.”

She also had useful advice on interning,  taking the initiative,  and preparing to take risks in the workplace. Good communications skills also go a long way in making connections, she said. She also encouraged students to play to their strengths.

Ryan Delaney, the co-founder of Overdose Digital, reminisced about his days in Wintec and the advances in his career to founding his company.

“From the industry perspective, when you love your job, you’re more passionate about it, you move forward much quicker.”

All in all, it was an excellent programme with helpful insights into the creative fields of design, journalism and art.
