Arun is a 23-year-old from India, who first came to New Zealand in January of this year. He comes from the northern area of Haryana, an area famous for producing rice and wheat.

He came to New Zealand on a student visa to study IT at Wintec Te-Pūkenga, but when he first arrived, didn’t know anyone. Arun then met with Satyajeet and after a while decided to start flatting together.

Now Arun lives happily with three friends in Hamilton. There are heaps of activities they do together like cooking and eating food, running, and doing different exercises.

Once he arrived in New Zealand he faced many problems like job availability, financial hardship, and homesickness. However, when the college year began, he made some new friends which helped him with these struggles. He goes to many different places with his friends to gain knowledge and particularly likes the Māori culture and likes to see the language written.

He now has a part time job at Mainfreight, one of the biggest freight companies in the country. Some of his responsibilities there are: driving trucks and forklifts. He first got into trucking because of his father, who owns a transport business in India. One of the things he most likes about the job is communicating with people from different places.
