Worn Well is the result of research and a sustainable clothing survey, which interviewed people based in the Waikato about their loved clothing.

The book portrays clothing that is well loved and well worn, highlighting what everyday people are wearing and their clothing stories. At the same time, it acts as a peaceful protest against some of the overproduction and overconsumption that is currently part of the fast fashion industry.

Worn Well is bringing awareness to the waste within the fashion industry in Aotearoa New Zealand. Researchers identified that over 220,000 tonnes of textile waste being sent to landfill each year. Purchasing and wearing clothing thoughtfully and creatively is one way to challenge consumerism narratives.

The researchers invite attendees to wear their most loved or most worn clothing item to the launch.

After the book launch, Ramp Gallery will be open for the last evening of Critical Mass, a group exhibition placing environmental challenges at its centre, before it closes the following day.
