Award-winning artist Tom Scott to play Hamilton

Tamaki Makaura musician Tom Scott brings his new album ANITYA to the BNZ Theatre in May.

“Raw as exposed nerves… and as tender as the final kiss goodbye.” That’s how ANITYA, the latest album from Tom Scott, has been described, and next month, Hamilton audiences will be able to hear it live.

Scott, known for his work with Avantdale Bowling Club, Home Brew and @Peace, will open his Self Untitled New Zealand tour at the BNZ Theatre on Friday, May 1, before heading to Wellington the following week.

If you’ve followed Scott’s career, you’ll know he’s not an artist who sits still. But ANITYA, his first solo album, feels like something different again: more personal, more experimental, and at times, brutally honest.

Blending soul, dream-pop, ambient R&B and jazz influences, the album dives deep into themes of identity, failure and growth. It’s introspective stuff, but it’s also the kind of music that hits even harder live. And that’s where Scott really shines.

Known for his intense, emotionally charged performances, he’s built a reputation as one of the country’s most compelling live acts. Whether he’s delivering razor-sharp social commentary or quieter, reflective moments, there’s a sense that anything could happen on stage.

Hamilton audiences will also get to hear something extra, with Scott set to perform tracks from his upcoming release Demos and Voice Memos, a collection of unreleased material that didn’t make the final ANITYA cut.

Nearly two decades into his career, Scott’s still evolving, still experimenting, and still pushing his sound in new directions. With multiple Aotearoa Music Awards wins and the Taite Music Prize under his belt, he’s already cemented his place as one of Aotearoa’s most important artists.

But if this new tour is anything to go by, he’s far from done yet.

Tickets are on sale now and if his past shows are anything to judge by, Hamilton might want to get in quick. Tickets and further information at livenation.co.nz.
