A movie for Alan

It was late Waipā mayor Alan Livingston’s favourite flick.
And when Mrs Doubtfire screens at Te Awamutu’s Regent Theatre on Sunday, it will raise funds for another cause which was close to his heart.
Proceeds from the 1993 comedy starring Robin Williams and Sally Field will go to Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari.
“Alan was more than just a familiar face around The Regent,” cinema advertising says, “he was a valued member of our community whose kindness, friendship, and generosity touched so many lives.”
Livingston, who died suddenly in April, served as Waipa mayor from 2001 to 2013 and then chaired Waikato Regional Council from 2016 to 2019.
In 2014 he was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to sport and the community.
