AIMS Games an ‘awesome event’ – coach
St Peter’s College Auckland Rugby 7s coach Jeff Ierome says the AIMS Games give students an experience that could shape their sporting journeys for years to come.
“It gives them something that they have never been to before, and probably their first and last for a lot of them, but it’s a cool event.”
The week-long tournament brings together intermediate-age athletes from across the Southern Hemisphere to compete in 27 sports.
Rocco Leulusoo, 12, who plays rugby for St Peter’s College, is pleased with his performance to date.
“I am playing well so far,” he says.
Ierome says students enjoy all sports at the tournament, not just rugby. The College is participating in 18 sports at this year’s AIMS Games.
St Peter’s College finished in 17th place out of 45 teams in the hotly contested Rugby 7’s competition, with Henderson Intermediate taking out top spot.
