Exhibitors that are part of the Premier Feature at Fieldays this year are approaching the topic proactively.

As part of The Changing Face of Farming, innovations at the Fieldays are looking more modern compared to previous years.

Exhibiting in the Premier Feature area is NZ Landcare Trust, which is working with the Waikato Regional Council to control local environments around the Waikato.

NZ Landcare Trust Financial Manager Pauline Hickey said that managing land issues around Lake Ngaroto is one of their current projects and they are looking to take on another lake project in the next financial year.

“The restoration of lakes is more than just planting, it’s whole farm planning.”

“We are targeting farmers to take control of their local environments by encouraging and supporting them in sustainable land management,” Hickey said.

The organisation is working alongside the likes of Dairy NZ which represents New Zealand’s dairy farmers.

Also located in the Mystery Creek Pavilion Cavius Nano is promoting the world’s smallest smoke alarm to farmers.
Cavius stallholder Peter Smith said the alarm operates differently to the traditional smoke alarms.

“Unlike the traditional ionisation, the photoelectric has a pause button which allows users to clear the air rather than just plainly turning the alarm off,” he said.

“The chamber in this alarm is uses a photoelectric chamber which reduces false alarms.”
