Owner, Michael Willmoth sits outside his stall on a stool in stubbies, crocks and a t-shirt handing out free samples while yelling out catch phrases to draw in the crowd.

“Ice cream, you scream we all scream for ice cream!” he said to passersby.

Willmoth, who says he is born and bred in New Zealand, has owned the stall for 20 years and came to Fieldays for the money.

“I have read the newspapers and you guys are rich enough for ice creams,” he said to more people walking past.

He said he uses the strategy for ‘quality and to be noticed.’

Jared Topzand, on his second day working at the stall, was entertained by the advertising strategy but believes it is effective.

A friend of the stallholder’s son, he describes Willmoth as having ‘quick wit.’

Topzand said the stall, which is located on Innovation lane, usually gets busy from 11am to 12noon.
