On Wednesday the SAFE team had already managed to collect hundreds of signatures on their petition to stop factory farming and planned to get thousands by the ends of the event.

Campaign director Elliot Pryor said farmers have been mostly supportive of them being at Fieldays. “We’ve had a few interesting conversations though.”

Animals are the group’s first priority and they have set up replica chicken and pig factory farms so people can see what they’re really buying.

“I think people care but they don’t see this, they don’t see where the products come from,” said Pryor.

“We as individuals have the power to change an animal’s life just by looking at what we buy,” he said.

Although SAFE don’t support any form of farming, they feel that being at Fieldays is a good way to reach a large amount of farmers.
