The 53rd New Zealand National Fieldays is set to open today, two years after the last event on site. According to organisers, it is expected to be the biggest yet with families, friends, exhibitors, and colleagues coming together to reconnect and celebrate the best of New Zealand agriculture.

The four-day event will be filled with over 1,000 exhibitors, the latest innovations, free health check-ups, advice on agricultural careers and education, competitions, and lots of food and beverage options, there will be plenty to do and see.

Wintec communication students will be on site over the next few days to gather stories, take photos and find out first-hand how exhibitors are going. “We’ve been covering stories at Fieldays for nearly 20 years and we’re thrilled to be back on site this year” says communication and media programme coordinator Cate Prestidge.

Peter Nation, Chief Executive of the New Zealand National Fieldays Society, is grateful for the opportunity to run the event. He says “We are honoured to be in a position to host an in-person event while many countries across the world cannot. We owe our thanks to everyone in the team of 5 million doing their bit to safely enable events to run across the country.”

Prestidge says the students are excited to have their media accreditation and are looking forward to checking out the Media Centre. She is grateful to Fieldays Marketing Manager, Bliss Hemingway for continuing the positive relationship between Wintec’s School of Media Arts and Fieldays, and supporting these real world learning opportunities for students.

If you can’t make it to site, the successful Fieldays Online from 2020 is returning for 2021. Peter  Nation says this gives a good option for people who can’t make the trip to the Waikato to connect virtually, see live streams and browse through the latest products and services from your favourite exhibitors.” https://www.fieldaysonline.co.nz/
