Exploring Infinity – a ‘safe haven’ for spiritual seekers.
Infinity Spiritual Centre is more than a crystal shop. It’s a spiritual hub and after 20 years, the shop is humming with possibilities. Wintec Journalism student Bell Tollemache sat down with Founder Barry Bartlett, and managers Nina Iggulden and Amanda Blake to discuss crystal healing and their work.
Infinity Spiritual Centre was established in 2006 in Kirikiriroa, Hamilton. It offers a range of clairvoyant readings, healings, crystals and gifts. Infinity’s retail shop has great energy, full to the brim with beautiful glowing rough crystals, tumbled stones, and mica.
Bartlett became aware of the business through his earlier work and the chance to buy it seemed like the perfect opportunity, ‘ I was running spiritual film shows and I used to put an ad in the crystal shop. One day she says to me I’m selling up and moving. And I said, ‘Write down on a piece of paper how much you want for the shop.’
Bartlett had exactly the amount of money the owner wrote down. That’s how it began.
When asked about Infinity’s demographic , Bartlett chuckles, ‘’Our market is 5-90. Everybody buys crystals. From little kids to elderly people.’’ Having people of all ages come through the store is a pleasure for the owners.
Blake said ‘I’ve noticed more children are coming in and spending their pocket money on crystals and that’s so cool to see.’
Bartlett, Iggulden and Blake all have different roles and responsibilities at Infinity Spiritual Centre, Bartlett said he enjoys helping people, while Blake enjoys ‘the technical stuff’ behind the scenes , specifically the tills and the website. Iggulden manages the shop, the stock and orders.She enjoys the interaction with customers.
For people curious about the different ways crystals can be used in holistic healing the trio have some suggestions about how to incorporate crystals into everyday life.
Iggulden says, ‘The main way is wearing them or having them within your auric space. So therefore you’re going to get the vibration or the energy off of them to help rebalance your system.’’
Blake said, ‘’There are practical uses as well, like using them for protection round your home’. Especially with all the Electro Magnetic Fields, wifi … purifying your water’.
I asked which crystals are commonly used in crystal healing, Blake replies ‘Tourmaline is the big one! Black tourmaline for protection against negative energy.’’
Amethyst is connected to the crown chakra and all-round healing, while Quartz is used to charge other crystals. Selenite is used for cleansing and charging.
Rose Quartz and Citrine are also very popular for attracting love and abundance.
