Discover the magic of Stories in the Garden

Fairytale characters, princesses and superheroes will be bringing stories to life this summer in Hamilton CBD with the return of Stories In The Garden.

Featuring performers from the entertainment company Enchanted, this free family event offers storytelling sessions to children in Garden Place from Saturday, November 21 until the end of March.

The hour-long event starts at 10am and is a collaboration between Love The Centre and Hamilton Central library, combining storybook readings with games and character appearances.

“Sometimes we have Spiderman, so he’s quite a drawcard. It does tend to inspire kids to come along,” said Vanessa Williams from Love The Centre.

Williams says Stories in The Garden has taken place for about five years. The Love The Centre team came up with the idea after seeing how much children enjoyed seeing and having photos taken with the Enchanted characters at previous events.

Williams adds that they wanted to find another opportunity to host a regular event in the CBD that children could come and be part of. The age range for Stories in the Garden is three years and above, but it is aimed more at younger children.

“It’s a little bit like a very mini version of something like Christmas, but it’s a little bit more about keeping alive the stories that have been here for generations, said Williams.

Williams also hopes the younger generation will enjoy the experience of town.

The Grand Debut for the new season will feature the Frozen Princesses with Superhero Saturday set down for December 5.
