Kiwi BBQ brings residential students together
Students from around New Zealand and overseas were welcomed back to campus with a Kiwi BBQ last month.
The social event gave students a chance to get to meet each other and form connections. It was hosted by the Hatch Student Living Team, who look after 190 student residents in the Wintec apartments and student village.

Resident Services Manager, Hayley Thomson. values the events, and said student living is about more than just studying: “It’s about building friendships, developing independence and creating lifelong memories.
“Hatch Student Living Team encourages everyone to make the most of the opportunities available during their time with us.”

Henry David, from Vanuatu, is a new student studying a Certificate in Business at Wintec. He applauded the event, which permitted him to meet other students who live at the Wintec apartments and student village.
“I talked with other international students from different cultural backgrounds,” he said.
As well as connecting with people from other countries, David was looking forward to other events that would be put on.

During the semester, the Hatch Student Living Team plans activities for residents. These are quiz nights, cultural celebrations, supper evenings, trips to Rainbow’s End and visits to Hamilton Gardens.
